Background information about 'Wayfarer'

There are bands that simply get it right, and Kerrigan are absolutely one of them. Three years after their outstanding debut "Bloodmoon" tore through the traditional heavy metal underground, the Freiburg four-piece returns with "Wayfarer" — and honestly, this thing is a joy from the first note to the last.

"Dreamy, melancholic and pretty versatile" is how guitarist and vocalist Jonas Weber describes it, and you can feel every bit of that. This is heavy metal that breathes, that knows exactly when to hit the throttle and when to let a melody linger. The opener "Torchbearer" comes galloping out of the gate like it has something to prove, while "The Ice Witch" and "Blood And Steel" are the kind of tracks that burrow into your skull and refuse to leave. And then there's "Fighter" — a genuinely uplifting, almost euphoric moment that proves Kerrigan aren't afraid to smile. Guitarist Bruno Schotten puts it best: accessible songs packed with so many details they never get boring. If the goal was a modern heavy metal classic, they've come damn close.

What makes "Wayfarer" so special is the confidence. This is a band that knows its roots — the eighties, the NWOBHM spirit, the twin-guitar fire — but never sounds like a museum piece. The songwriting is sharp, the hooks are enormous, and there's a warmth to the whole production that makes you want to flip the record and start all over again.
