Background information about 'Wayfarer'

Kerrigan are back, and honestly, this is the moment German traditional heavy metal has been waiting for. Three years after their debut "Bloodmoon" turned heads across the scene, the Freiburg four-piece returns with "Wayfarer", a record that feels like it rolled straight out of a time machine tuned to 1984 and somehow landed with its edges still razor-sharp.

Guitarist and singer Jonas Weber calls it "dreamy, melancholic and pretty versatile," and he's not wrong. "Wayfarer" picks up exactly where its predecessor left off, yet it stretches further in every direction. The opening charge of "Torchbearer" and the galloping "Blood and Steel" are pure, unapologetic heavy metal adrenaline, while "The Ice Witch" weaves in the kind of melodic, almost cinematic drama that gets under your skin and refuses to leave. Then there's "Fighter" — a genuinely uplifting, fist-in-the-air anthem that proves these guys can write a hook without ever softening their edge.

What makes this album so addictive is the detail. Bruno Schotten's riffing is the kind that rewards repeat listens, the kind where you catch something new on the tenth spin that you missed on the first. The rhythm section of Jakob Zeblin and Jonathan Döring locks in with a warmth and swing that so many modern metal records sorely lack. There's no sterile, over-produced sheen here — just a band playing with fire, conviction, and an obvious, infectious love for the eighties greats they grew up on.
