Background information about 'Phantom'

Originally released as part of the limited "Blossom" CD boxset from 2015, "Phantom" marked a fascinating darker turn for Lustre's atmospheric journey. While previous releases basked in majestic and regal ambience, this EP saw Nachtzeit returning to the minimalist lo-fi black metal foundations that characterized early works like "Nightspirit". The result is a haunting exploration that bridges the gap between the project's past and future, creating something uniquely compelling in the process.

Consisting of two tracks, each stretching just over 14 minutes, "Phantom" offers an immersive listening experience that feels both cohesive and expansive. Both songs share a dreamlike, sombre atmosphere while providing complete journeys in their own right. The music centers around Lustre's signature slow, heavily textured keyboard-laden dirges, propelled by simplistic yet hypnotic percussion and punctuated by waves of guitar distortion. The doomy, droning riffs repeat at length but are constantly embedded in an ever-evolving soundscape that never loses its grip. Keyboards, guitars, and drums bleed into each other so seamlessly that the boundaries between ambient and metal dissolve completely.
