Kanonenfieber delivers a haunting masterpiece with "Soldatenschicksale", an album that transcends typical war-themed metal to become something profoundly human and deeply moving. This isn't just another battle hymn collection – it's a visceral journey through the forgotten stories of individual soldiers whose voices have been silenced by history's grand narratives.

The German outfit crafts their most ambitious work yet, weaving together revised versions of previous releases "Yankee Division", "Der Füsilier", and "U-Bootsmann" alongside two brand new compositions that form the epic "Skagerrak" suite. The result is a cohesive narrative that spans from American landings on the Western Front to the merciless Eastern winter campaigns, culminating in the largest naval battle of World War I. Each track serves as a memorial to the nameless soldiers – the 17-year-old boy suffocating in a dugout, the naval signalman aboard the doomed SMS Wiesbaden, the stoker deep in the engine room as artillery fire rains down above.
