Background information about 'Reign Of Suffering (Re-Issue 2023)'
Malevolence delivers an absolute crusher with this re-issue of "Reign Of Suffering", proving once again why they're leading the charge in modern hardcore. This album is pure sonic warfare – eight tracks of relentless aggression that showcase the Sheffield quintet's ability to blend crushing breakdowns with melodic sensibilities that'll stick in your head for weeks. From the opening assault of "In The Face Of Death" to the haunting closer "Wraith", every moment feels carefully crafted yet devastatingly heavy.
The standout epic "Turn To Stone" clocks in at over seven minutes and demonstrates Malevolence's range beyond typical hardcore constraints, incorporating atmospheric passages that build to earth-shattering climaxes. The production on this re-issue captures every nuance of their sound – from Alex Taylor's commanding vocals to the crushing low-end that'll rattle your speakers. This isn't just hardcore; it's a masterclass in controlled chaos that bridges the gap between old-school brutality and contemporary songwriting excellence.
