Background information about 'Henhouse Recordings'

Step into the shadowy corridors of black metal history with this absolutely essential release from Norwegian legends Mayhem. "Henhouse Recordings" captures the raw, unfiltered essence of one of extreme metal's most pivotal moments - the band's legendary 1989 rehearsal sessions that would forever shape the landscape of black metal. This isn't just another archival release; it's a haunting testament to the creative forces that birthed a movement.

What makes this release truly special is the presence of the iconic Per "Dead" Ohlin on vocals, one of only a handful of recordings featuring the legendary frontman before his tragic death in 1991. The material spans from their groundbreaking "Deathcrush" era through tracks that would later appear on the seminal "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" album. Even more thrilling for collectors and historians alike is the inclusion of a never-before-released track, parts of which would later be utilized by black metal emperors Emperor.
