Background information about 'Too Fast For Love (45th Anniversary Lenticular Edition)'
Some debuts arrive politely. Mötley Crüe's did not. "Too Fast For Love" landed in 1981 like a fist through a dressing room mirror — raw, cheap, gloriously alive, and absolutely certain of itself. Recorded on a shoestring and originally pressed by the band's own Leathür Records, it captured a Los Angeles that smelled of spilled beer, cheap perfume and burnt rubber. Nikki Sixx wrote like a man with something to prove, Vince Neil sang like he'd already won, and Mick Mars peeled off riffs that were equal parts glam sparkle and gutter grit. Tommy Lee? Pure adrenaline behind the kit.
Four and a half decades on, that scrappy little record still hits harder than most things released this year. "Live Wire" opens the door and kicks it off the hinges, "Take Me To The Top" swaggers with a grin, and the title track struts along like it owns the Sunset Strip. There's a reason this album became the blueprint for a whole decade of hard rock: it's the sound of five guys who had nothing to lose and everything to play for.
This 45th Anniversary Collection edition brings the remastered album home in a lenticular cover that shifts and shimmers as you move it — a fittingly theatrical frame for a record that was pure showmanship from the first note.
