Background information about 'As The Flower Withers'
When My Dying Bride unleashed "As The Flower Withers" in 1992, they didn't just create an album – they forged a monument to melancholy that would define doom metal for generations. This debut full-length stands as a towering achievement, where crushing heaviness meets haunting beauty in ways that still send shivers down spines three decades later. The Yorkshire legends crafted something truly special here, weaving together bone-crushing riffs with violin passages that could make angels weep.
From the ethereal opening of "Silent Dance" to the epic 12-minute journey of "The Return Of The Beautiful", every moment pulses with raw emotion and devastating power. Aaron Stainthorpe's tortured vocals soar over Martin Powell's mournful violin, while the rhythm section delivers earth-shaking doom that feels like watching cathedrals crumble in slow motion. This Peaceville Records re-release includes the rare bonus track "Unreleased Bitterness", making it essential for both longtime devotees and newcomers ready to embrace the darkness.
