Reformed American black metallers Nachtmystium have returned from the shadows on their new EP, "Resilient." Spearheaded by the enigmatic Blake Judd, Nachtmystium's lineup introduces fresh energy into the band's dark and introspective soundscape. This EP marks their first release under Prophecy Productions, continuing from where "The World We Left Behind" and "Silencing Machine" left off. The tracks exude an unprecedented darkness that reflects Judd's artistic turmoil, navigating through nightmarish landscapes with slower tempos drenched in melancholy.

The EP opens with the title track "Resilient," a full-bodied churn of sadness and determination. Its main melody is powered by a dreamy keyboard line, counterbalanced by Judd's despairing riffs. "Silver Lanterns" is more traditional Nachtmystium, featuring a shimmering centerpiece amidst half-blasts and tremolo riffs. Finally, "Desert Illumination" includes a sing-song melody which is inverted for a more malicious coda. This release signifies a new chapter for Judd and Nachtmystium, pushing boundaries while staying true to their roots.
