Reformed American black metallers Nachtmystium have returned from the shadows on their new EP, "Resilient." Spearheaded by enigmatic leader Blake Judd, the reconfigured Nachtmystium picks up where acclaimed full-lengths "The World We Left Behind" and "Silencing Machine" left off. Yet, this time, they delve deeper into artistic turmoil, spreading a violent introspection across the album's tracks. The band explores new nightmarish landscapes as they pivot into slower tempos with melancholic overtones as the main sonic driver.

The EP features Judd alongside keyboardist Job 'Phenex' Bos, bassist Martin van Valkenstijn, and drummer Jean Graffio. Together, they create a soundscape that intertwines sadness and desperation with determination. The title track churns with a full-bodied melancholy while "Silver Lanterns" returns to a more traditional Nachtmystium sound. The track "Desert Illumination" offers an almost uplifting doom-like tempo before descending into a more malicious coda.
