Background information about 'Death Above Life'
Swedish metal quartet Orbit Culture delivers their most ambitious statement yet with "Death Above Life", their Century Media debut that marks both an evolution and revolution in their sound. The album opens with the scorching "Inferna" and builds through the title track's clenched-fist intensity to the elegiac closer "The Path I Walk", showcasing a band that has found their perfect balance between crushing heaviness and cinematic grandeur. Guitarist and vocalist Niklas Karlsson draws inspiration from film composers like Hans Zimmer and Howard Shore, incorporating orchestral elements that elevate their metal beyond conventional boundaries.
Produced by the band and mixed by Buster Odeholm (known for his work with Vildhjarta and Humanity's Last Breath), "Death Above Life" represents modern metal at its finest. The album seamlessly blends djent influences with metalcore and melodic death metal, creating something that feels both familiar and refreshingly innovative. Karlsson's approach of incorporating cinematic soundscapes - from cellos to pianos - adds texture and depth that transforms simple riffs into epic musical journeys, making this a crucial release for the future of heavy music.
For fans of: Meshuggah, Gojira, Periphery, Vildhjarta, and Humanity's Last Breath
