Background information about 'The Space'
There are albums that grab you by the collar, and then there are albums that simply pull you into orbit. Somali Yacht Club does exactly that with The Space — a record that feels like floating through a cosmos made of fuzz, melody, and sheer atmospheric weight. The Ukrainian trio has crafted something that breathes, shifts, and expands with every spin.
From the opening shimmer of "Silver" to the crushing weight of "Obscurum," the band balances heaviness with an almost meditative lightness. "Pulsar" pulses with hypnotic rhythm, while "Gold" glows with a warmth that feels like the sun breaking through a thick haze of amplifiers. The etched D side is a beautiful touch — a silent moment on wax that completes the journey. This is stoner rock that doesn't just rely on riff worship; it reaches for the stars and actually touches them.
