Background information about 'Kong Vinter'
Taake unleashes their seventh full-length masterpiece "Kong Vinter" like a frozen thunderbolt from the seven mountains of Bergen! This isn't just another black metal album - it's a testament to why Hoest remains one of the genre's most compelling visionaries. The man behind every instrument on this record has crafted something that feels both refreshingly modern and deeply rooted in Norwegian black metal tradition.
What strikes you immediately is how "Kong Vinter" balances razor-sharp aggression with an unexpectedly playful groove that'll catch you off guard. Hoest hasn't just maintained the signature Taake sound; he's pushed it into new territory while keeping one boot firmly planted in the frozen Norwegian soil. The album weaves through landscapes that range from mercilessly brutal to surprisingly melodic, all underscored by that distinctive nasty groove that makes Taake so addictive. There's even a devilish touch of rock'n'roll lurking in the shadows, proving that black metal doesn't always have to take itself so seriously.
