Background information about 'Power Of The Hunter'

If you ever needed proof that the New Wave of British Heavy Metal could hit harder than a freight train, Tank delivered it in 1982 with "Power Of The Hunter". This is the sound of a band pouring gasoline on their already roaring debut and striking the match. The second album from these NWOBHM giants is louder, nastier and more relentless than anything that came before it, a record that still stands as an absolute cornerstone of the early-80s metal era.

From the opening crunch of "Walking Barefoot Over Glass" to the title track's swaggering menace, every riff lands like a hammer blow. Algy Ward's bass snarls underneath while the twin guitars slice through the mix, and the whole thing moves with a raw, street-level energy that modern bands would kill to bottle. The gloriously unhinged cover of "Crazy Horses" is a masterstroke, and the bonus material here only deepens the story, with alternate seven-inch versions and two savage live cuts from Holland in 1982 that capture the band in full, feral flight. This carefully assembled reissue also comes with extensive liner notes that shine a whole new light on a genuinely groundbreaking record. It's not just a nostalgia trip, it's a reminder of how dangerous heavy metal used to feel.
