Wolves In The Throne Room have long been the torchbearers of a very particular kind of black metal - one that trades corpse paint and chaos for moss-covered forests, spiritual depth and an almost meditative grandeur. Celestial Lineage is the culmination of their early trilogy, and it feels less like an album and more like a ritual you get to witness from the inside.

From the opening swell of Thuja Magus Imperium, the Washington duo conjures a soundscape that is both crushing and celestial. The guitars shimmer and roar in equal measure, while the drums push forward with a primal, hypnotic urgency. Tracks like Subterranean Initiation and Astral Blood stretch out into epic proportions, letting the music breathe and evolve across ten-minute arcs that never feel bloated. The shorter pieces - Permanent Changes In Consciousness and Rainbow Illness - act as eerie, atmospheric interludes, grounding the record in a sense of place and purpose. There is a genuine, almost sacred quality to the way these songs unfold, with clean vocals weaving in and out of the ferocity like voices carried on wind through old growth.

Recorded in a cabin in the Pacific Northwest, the album carries that raw, organic production that makes every riff feel alive. Prayer Of Transformation closes the record with a sense of ascension, leaving you breathless and strangely at peace. This is black metal for people who stare at the sky, not the abyss.
