Background information about 'Evil Genius'

Swedish black metal legends Abruptum return with "Evil Genius", a haunting testament to their uncompromising vision of darkness and chaos. Known for their absolutely devastating approach to extreme music, the band delivers another crushing blow to conventional songwriting with this latest offering. The album showcases their signature blend of ritualistic atmospheres and punishing sonic assault, creating an experience that's both deeply unsettling and strangely mesmerizing. Each track feels like a descent into madness, with Latin-titled compositions that suggest ancient curses and forbidden knowledge.

The production maintains that raw, unpolished edge that has always defined Abruptum's sound, allowing every tortured scream and distorted riff to cut through like a blade. From the opening "Honores Vultus Mutares Ex Aeris Campi" to the epic closing statement "Animum, Mentem Alcis Juventutem Largitionibus, Hostes Ad Dimicandum, Commotis Exita Sacris Thyias", this album proves that the band hasn't lost any of their ability to create genuinely disturbing musical landscapes. It's a relentless journey through eleven tracks of pure sonic torment that will leave listeners both exhausted and strangely satisfied.
