Written between 2017 and 2019 and recorded during the strange, isolated year of 2020 with Jake Superchi (Uada, Ceremonial Castings) at the helm, this album breathes with a warmth and clarity that's rare in the genre. The production is accessible without sacrificing an ounce of raw emotion – a balancing act that few bands pull off.

Thematically, "A Distant Fire" paints a grim picture: nights lit by distant blazes, days choked by ash and smoke. It's a story about facing an uncertain, dire future, and the music mirrors that perfectly. The six tracks flow organically, weaving together elements of black metal, folk, and post-rock with an ease that feels almost effortless. From the soaring opener "First Light" to the crushing 16-minute epic title track that closes the album, every song builds its own world. Mastering by Mell Dettmer at Studio Soli (Sunn O))), Wolves in the Throne Room, Earth) gives the whole thing a majestic, immersive finish. The artwork by Craig Strother (Second Nature Artwork) ties it all together beautifully.
