Background information about 'The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here'
After a 14-year hiatus, Alice in Chains returned with their fifth studio album "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" in 2013, proving that the grunge legends still had plenty of fire left in their creative furnace. This collection of twelve tracks showcases the band's signature blend of heavy, sludgy riffs and haunting harmonies, with Jerry Cantrell and William DuVall delivering some of their most compelling vocal interplay to date. The album's title track serves as a centerpiece, weaving together the band's trademark dark themes with a crushing sonic assault that feels both familiar and refreshingly evolved.
The record explores themes of addiction, spirituality, and personal demons with the same unflinching honesty that made classics like "Dirt" so powerful. Tracks like "Hollow" and "Stone" demonstrate the band's ability to craft memorable hooks without sacrificing their trademark heaviness, while deeper cuts like "Phantom Limb" and "Scalpel" showcase their willingness to experiment with longer, more progressive song structures. The production strikes a perfect balance between clarity and grit, allowing every crushing guitar tone and thunderous drum hit to resonate with maximum impact.
For fans of: Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mad Season, and Cantrell
