Background information about 'Under The Sign Of The Black Mark'
Bathory's third studio album, "Under the Sign of the Black Mark", remains a cornerstone in the evolution of black metal. Released originally in 1987, this album encapsulates a raw and unyielding musical onslaught that marked a significant departure from their earlier work. Infused with ferocity and an occult atmosphere, it serves as a haunting narrative steeped in mythos and dark imagery. Tracks like "Woman of Dark Desires" and "Call From the Grave" showcase Quorthon's ability to blend relentless aggression with atmospheric nuances.
The reissued version offers modern listeners a chance to experience this seminal work anew. With its iconic cover art designed by Quorthon himself and potent production values that capture the spirit of its original recording sessions at Heavenshore Studio, this album is more than just music; it's an invocation. Each track delivers a visceral punch while maintaining an eerie mysticism that reverberates through each chord progression and lyric.
