Background information about 'Death Cult'

The story of one of the most talented power trios in metal begins with a band called Diamond – and ends, gloriously, with the birth of Coroner. Before bassist Ron Royce and guitarist Tommy T. Baron became the Swiss thrash-technical wrecking crew we revere today, they were grinding through traditional heavy rock, playing all of three gigs before the itch to build something of their own became unbearable. Enter Marquis Marky behind the kit, and the machine was set in motion.

The first fruit of that collaboration was the "Death Cult" demo, four tracks of raw, searching, joyfully unhinged creativity: "Spectators Of Sin", "Spiral Dream", "Aerial Combat" and "The Invincible". Listening back now, Tommy Vetterli laughs at how free it all was – a band still hunting for its own sound, composing wherever the mood took them, doing exactly what gave them joy. And what a thrill it still is. Tom G. Warrior of Celtic Frost lends his unmistakable voice to three of the four cuts and wrote the lyrics, while the instrumental "Aerial Combat" lets the trio's chemistry breathe on its own. Only 250 copies of the original demo were professionally duplicated, and yet it lit up fanzines everywhere – a first release that genuinely mattered. This edition has been remastered and restored by Patrick W. Engel at TEMPLE OF DISHARMONY and cut by SST Germany on Neumann machines, making it the ultimate audiophile pressing of an eternal classic.
