Background information about 'Clandestine'
This is nothing short of a masterpiece that helped define Swedish death metal as we know it today. Entombed's second full-length offering stands as arguably one of the greatest death metal albums ever crafted, showcasing the band's evolution from their raw debut while maintaining that crushing Stockholm sound. The album features some of the most devastating tracks in the genre's history, with "Sinners Bleed" and "Demon" becoming instant classics that still tear through audiences in live settings decades later.
The production on "Clandestine" strikes that perfect balance between clarity and heaviness, allowing every crushing riff and thunderous drum hit to breathe while never losing that essential Swedish death metal grit. Tracks like "Stranger Aeons" and "Chaos Breed" demonstrate the band's ability to craft memorable hooks within their brutal framework, while "Through the Collonades" closes the album with an epic flourish that leaves listeners completely devastated. This reissue on pristine white vinyl gives this essential slab of Swedish death metal the treatment it deserves.
