HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY · Maere | WOODEN CD-BOX SET

Wooden box set containing hardcover digibook with 24 pages booklet and 2 CDs with 2 exclusive bonus tracks and flask with logo.

Background information about 'Maere'

There are albums that simply sound good, and then there are albums that grab you by the collar and refuse to let go. "Maere" by Harakiri For The Sky belongs firmly to the second category. The Austrian duo has spent years perfecting a sound that sits right where post-rock melancholy collides with the razor-sharp fury of black metal, and this record is the most confident, most emotionally exposed statement they have ever put to tape. The guitars shimmer and sting in equal measure, the drums push everything forward with a desperate urgency, and the screams carry a weight that feels genuinely lived-in rather than performed.

What makes "Maere" so gripping is how generous it is with its guests and its melodies. "Sing For The Damage We've Done" features Neige, and the contrast between his ethereal clean passages and the band's stormy riffing is nothing short of breathtaking. "Silver Needle // Golden Dawn" brings in the Voice of Gaerea, adding another layer of cold, cavernous intensity. And then there is the closer, a cover of Placebo's "Song To Say Goodbye" — a bold choice that the band completely makes their own, turning it into something fragile and enormous at the same time. Tracks like "Us Against December Skies" and "Time Is A Ghost" show just how well this group understands dynamics, letting quiet passages breathe before the next wave crashes down.

This wooden box set edition is a proper love letter to the fans: a hardcover digibook with a 24-page booklet, the double CD, and two exclusive bonus tracks that are not available anywhere else. Those bonuses are alternative, acoustic re-recordings of "My Bones to the Sea" and "The Traces We Leave," reinterpreted by M.S. with female vocals courtesy of Austrian artist Leesa — a genuinely different, haunting take on familiar material. Add a logo flask to the package and you have a collector's item that feels as carefully crafted as the music inside it.
