Background information about 'Upon Desolate Sands'
Hate Eternal's "Upon Desolate Sands" stands as a monolithic testament to the relentless fury that the band has honed over decades of death metal mastery. With Erik Rutan at the helm, both as frontman and producer, the album is a sonic assault characterized by its blistering speed and intricate compositions. The opening track, "The Violent Fury," sets the tone with its ferocious riffs and pummeling drums, encapsulating a sense of raw aggression that pervades throughout. Each track unfolds like a chapter in an epic saga of chaos and destruction, driven by Rutan's guttural vocals and masterful guitar work.
In "Nothingness of Being," Hate Eternal delve into existential themes with a haunting melody layered over thunderous rhythms. The album's centerpiece is undoubtedly the title track "Upon Desolate Sands," where the band's technical prowess shines through complex time signatures and dynamic shifts. The production is pristine yet brutal, allowing every instrument to carve out its space while contributing to the overall wall of sound. This record not only cements Hate Eternal's status in the pantheon of death metal but also pushes the genre's boundaries with precision and unyielding force.
