More about the book 'Sodom - Auf Kohle Geboren (German Edition)'
This isn't your typical metal biography - it's a deep dive into the coal-dusted heart of German thrash metal history. Holger Schmenk has crafted something truly special with this comprehensive look at Sodom, one of the most uncompromising bands to emerge from the Ruhr area's industrial landscape. Born in the working-class district of Gelsenkirchen-Buer in 1982, Sodom became the loudest answer to existential pain, forging a sound that would forever change metal's trajectory alongside fellow German thrash pioneers Kreator and Destruction.
Dr. Schmenk didn't just write this from his desk - he ventured into the deepest basement rehearsal rooms and scoured the hardest pubs to uncover the unfiltered truth about Tom Angelripper and his ever-changing lineup of musical warriors. From the wild early days of the "Witching Metal" demo to their international breakthrough with "Agent Orange" and beyond, this book chronicles the turbulent career of a band that's burned through more guitarists than most bands go through amplifiers. It's the raw, unvarnished story of a miner's son who climbed from underground laborer to internationally celebrated metal star without forgetting his roots or compromising his vision.
