Background information about 'Daemon (Re-Release)'
Mayhem's sixth full-length studio album "Daemon" stands as a testament to the Norwegian black metal legends' unwavering commitment to darkness and sonic brutality. Originally released in 2019, this re-release captures the band at their most refined yet vicious, delivering ten tracks of pure malevolent energy that showcase why Mayhem remains the undisputed kings of the genre they helped create. The album opens with "The Dying False King", immediately establishing an atmosphere of apocalyptic dread that permeates throughout, while tracks like "Agenda Ignis" and "Bad Blood" demonstrate the band's ability to blend their classic chaotic approach with more structured songwriting.
The production on "Daemon" strikes the perfect balance between clarity and rawness, allowing every blast beat from Hellhammer and every tortured vocal from Attila Csihar to cut through the mix with surgical precision. Songs like "Aeon Daemonium" and "Worthless Abominations Destroyed" showcase the band's evolution while maintaining that signature Mayhem atmosphere of pure nihilistic terror. The album closes with "Invoke The Oath", a fitting end to what many consider one of their strongest releases in decades.
For fans of: Emperor, Darkthrone, Immortal, Gorgoroth and 1349
