Opening with the title track, the band wastes no time establishing the terrain: tectonic riffs, thunderous drumming that sounds like the earth splitting open, and Milosz Gassan's roar — a voice that carries the weight of genuine anguish, never posturing, always bleeding. What sets Morne apart from the legions of Neurosis disciples is their ability to weave moments of staggering beauty into the wreckage. There's a post-punk sensibility lurking beneath the sludge, a melodic undercurrent that surfaces just long enough to break your heart before the next wave of distortion swallows it whole. Memories Like Stone rides a hypnotic, almost krautrock-like pulse before collapsing into pure doom devastation. The B-side doesn't let up — Wretched Empire is nine minutes of slow-burning apocalyptic dread, and Fire and Dust closes the record on a note of exhausted transcendence that lingers long after the needle lifts. This isn't background music. This demands your full attention, and it rewards it tenfold.
