By 2001, death metal was gasping for air. The once-putrid genre that birthed some of the vilest sounds imaginable had been watered down into something almost... harmless. Then Murder Squad crawled out from the Swedish underground and vomited filth all over the scene again.

Formed by members of legendary acts like Entombed, Dismember, and Merciless, these four Swedes shared a single obsession: getting wasted and worshipping Autopsy. Their second full-length, "Ravenous Murderous", originally released in 2003, is the sound of a band that doesn't give a single fuck about trends or politeness. While their debut was practically a love letter built from Autopsy-style riffs, this album goes way beyond tribute — it plays like an unreleased Autopsy record that somehow materialized through a Swedish filter. The legendary Chris Reifert himself jumped into the studio, lending vocals, guitars, and drums, making this collaboration feel less like a guest appearance and more like a full-on possession. The result is a dark, filthy slab of death metal with lyrics that'd make today's moral outrage brigade choke on their oat milk lattes. Adorned with a grotesquely beautiful cover by the late Timo Ketola, this reissue is a must for anyone who craves their death metal raw, rotten, and real.
