Background information about 'Schnee'
What an absolute masterpiece of atmospheric black metal storytelling! Paysage D'Hiver has crafted something truly extraordinary with "Schnee" – a haunting four-part symphony that spans nearly two decades of creative evolution. Swiss mastermind Wintherr has taken his obsession with winter's frozen embrace and transformed it into pure sonic poetry, collecting these previously scattered gems from various splits and compilations into one cohesive, breathtaking experience.
This isn't just another black metal release – it's a journey through the very essence of winter itself. Each of the four "Schnee" compositions explores different facets of snow and ice, from gentle falling flakes to devastating blizzards that consume everything in their path. The fact that these tracks were created across such a vast timespan only adds to their mystique, showing how Wintherr's vision has deepened and matured while maintaining that raw, primal connection to nature's most unforgiving season. The specially remixed and remastered versions breathe new life into these already stunning pieces, making this the definitive way to experience this frozen epic.
