Background information about 'Dema'
What a monumental release we have here! Root's "Dema" stands as a towering testament to the Czech legends' enduring legacy in the black metal realm. This compilation brings together the band's first four groundbreaking demos from their formative years, showcasing the raw, unfiltered essence of what would become one of black metal's most distinctive voices. From their 1988 formation behind the iron curtain to their evolution into the unmistakable sound we know today, these recordings capture lightning in a bottle.
The journey through these demos is nothing short of mesmerizing. You'll hear the primitive yet captivating blend of thrashy riffs, stomping drums, and those haunting acoustic interludes that made Root so unique. The transition from Dr. Fe's original Czech vocals to Big Boss taking over on "The Trial" marks a pivotal moment in black metal history. Patrick W. Engel's masterful restoration from the original tapes ensures every eerie sample, incantation, and off-kilter moment hits with crystal clarity. This isn't just a collection – it's a pilgrimage through the underground's most sacred grounds.
