The title, drawn from the Greek Γένεσις meaning "birth," couldn't be more fitting. Produced by Andy Classen at Stage One Studios in Germany, Genesis hits with a tight, punchy production — booming bass, controlled guitar distortion, and a drum mix that punches through without overwhelming the atmosphere. What makes this album stand out is how seamlessly it weaves together the gothic melodicism of Rotting Christ's mid-period work with the raw, percussive intensity of their earlier material. Gregorian chant passages drift through the faster sections, the band's signature start-stop rhythmic syncopation is everywhere, and Sakis delivers some of his most commanding vocal performances to date. Tracks like \u201cDaemons\u201d, \u201cLex Talionis\u201d, and the emotionally devastating \u201cAd Noctis\u201d — which later found its way onto the Brütal Legend video game soundtrack — show the band operating at peak compositional confidence.
