Background information about 'Aeons Untold'
Aeons Untold arrives like something dragged up from a flooded cellar — damp, rotten and absolutely gripping. Slithering Decay deal in old-school death metal with a doom-soaked pulse, the kind of riffs that don't so much attack as ooze forward, all downtuned churn and cavernous reverb. There's a real sense of craft here: the guitars trade filthy tremolo passages with slow, crushing breakdowns, while the rhythm section keeps everything lurching at a wonderfully unhealthy tempo. It's the sound of a band who clearly grew up on the classics but refuse to simply photocopy them.
What lifts this record above the usual retro-death pile-up is the atmosphere. Every track feels like it was recorded in a crypt with the door left slightly open — cold air, distant howls, and a low-end rumble that rattles the floorboards. The vocals sit buried just deep enough to feel like another instrument, adding texture rather than hogging the spotlight. Spin it loud and you can almost smell the incense and candle wax. For a debut, it's remarkably confident, and it rewards repeat listens — new details crawl out of the murk each time.
