Background information about 'Consecration'
Somn arrive with "Consecration" like a storm front rolling in off a cold sea, and it does not ask for permission. The project gathers members of Show Me a Dinosaur, TRNA and Olhava — names that already promise a certain weight and texture — and what they build here is dense, patient and genuinely heavy, the kind of record that unfolds slowly and then refuses to let go. Guitars shimmer and then collapse into crushing low-end, drums push and pull against the current, and the whole thing breathes with a bleak, cinematic grandeur that feels less like a collection of songs and more like a single sustained descent.
The story at its core is a brutal one: a man fed into the grinding gears of other people's ambitions, a chronicle of blind submission, of blood spilled for ideals that were never worth the cost, of an identity devoured piece by piece. That narrative gives the record its spine. There is no comfort offered here, no easy catharsis — just the sound of conviction curdling into ruin, and the band rendering it with real craft. Fans of atmospheric, emotionally punishing heavy music will find plenty to sink into, and the deeper you go, the more the record rewards you.
