Background information about 'Infinite Illumination'
The final chapter has arrived, and what a crushing, emotionally devastating conclusion it is. Spirit Adrift delivers their swan song with "Infinite Illumination", a record that feels both like a triumphant victory lap and a haunting farewell. This isn't just another doom metal album – it's a statement of finality wrapped in some of the heaviest, most melodically rich compositions Nathan Garrett has ever crafted.
From the opening title track to the closing "Where Once There Was An Ocean", there's an undeniable sense of urgency coursing through these eight tracks. The fatalistic "Born in a Bad Way" conjures images of vengeance and redemption, while "White Death" delivers some of the most bone-crushing riffs this side of Black Sabbath. Garrett's vocals have never sounded more passionate, weaving tales of spiritual unrest and earthly turmoil with the kind of conviction that only comes from knowing this is your last stand. The production work by Zeuss gives every crushing chord and thunderous drum hit the weight it deserves, while Arik Roper's artwork perfectly captures the album's themes of endings and transcendence.
