Background information about '...by the Word...'
Trelldom unleash a devastating sonic assault with "...by the Word...", their second full-length since ending their 17-year hiatus. Mastermind Kristian Eivind Espedal (Gaahl) has crafted something truly extraordinary here – this isn't just another black metal album, it's a complete metamorphosis that pushes boundaries while staying true to the genre's darkest essence. The album showcases exponentially grown confidence as Trelldom escape the narrowest definitions of black metal without compromising their artistic mission one bit.
What makes this release absolutely electrifying is Espedal's return to the legendary Grieghallen Studios in Bergen, working once again with producer Eirik Hundvin (Pytten), the architect behind the classic Norwegian black metal sound. But don't expect nostalgia – "...by the Word..." ventures into uncharted territories with avant-garde dissonance, twisted rhythm patterns, and Espedal's vocal range expanding into previously unexplored dimensions. Every track demands intense listening, challenging preconceptions with its fierce darkness delivered through more unhinged and complex arrangements than ever before.
