Background information about 'Rrröööaaarrr'

Voivod's "Rrröööaaarrr" stands as a monument of thrash metal's raw energy and relentless intensity. Emerging from the depths of Quebec in the early '80s, Voivod quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with, blending punk's aggression with metal's technical prowess. The album, released amidst adversity and sheer determination in March 1986, encapsulates the band's unyielding spirit and innovative approach to the genre. Tracks like "Ripping Headaches" and "To The Death!" showcase their penchant for frenetic riffs and complex song structures, pushing the boundaries of conventional thrash metal. The album's creation was fraught with challenges, including the theft of their equipment during recordings, yet these obstacles only fueled their artistic fire.

Produced under the guidance of Karl-Ulrich Walterbach at Noise Records, “Rrröööaaarrr” is a testament to Voivod's resilience and vision. Each track on this sophomore effort dives deeper into themes of dystopian futures and existential dread, a reflection of their unique perspective on the world. The band's lineup at the time—Denis "Snake" Belanger on vocals, Denis "Piggy" D'Amour on guitars, Jean-Yves "Blacky" Thériault on bass, and Michael "Away" Langevin on drums—crafted an album that remains iconic in its ferocity and ingenuity. For those seeking an authentic slice of mid-80s thrash brilliance, Voivod's "Rrröööaaarrr" delivers an unmatched sonic assault that continues to influence generations of metal musicians.
