Background information about 'Runaljod - Yggdrasil'
Wardruna's "Runaljod - Yggdrasil" is an evocative tapestry of sound that transcends the traditional boundaries of music. This album delves deep into Nordic culture, drawing from ancient Norse texts and traditions to create a hauntingly atmospheric soundscape. The album's intricate arrangements combine traditional instruments like the tagelharpa and goat horn with contemporary influences to evoke the spirit of the past while breathing new life into these ancient sounds.
The meticulous craftsmanship of Einar Selvik, who plays multiple roles as composer, producer, and musician, shines through in every track. The vocals intertwine seamlessly with rhythmic patterns and melodies that are both solemn and uplifting. Each song on "Runaljod - Yggdrasil" is like a chapter in an epic saga, inviting listeners to explore themes of nature, mysticism, and mythology. The album is not merely a collection of songs; it is an immersive experience that invites reflection on history and humanity's connection to nature.
