Background information about 'Shadows Of Old'
Norwegian black metal titans Aeternus return with crushing force on "Shadows Of Old", a monument to the genre's most primal and atmospheric elements. This album sees the band diving deep into the abyss of their signature sound, weaving together blistering tremolo passages with haunting melodic interludes that showcase their mastery of dynamic songwriting. Tracks like "Under The Eternal Blackened Sky" and "The Summoning Of Shadows" demonstrate the band's ability to create vast sonic landscapes that feel both ancient and timeless.
The production strikes that perfect balance between raw aggression and clarity, allowing every riff to cut through while maintaining the essential grimness that defines great black metal. "Death's Golden Truth Revealed" stands as a particular highlight, building from whispered darkness into a tempest of blast beats and soaring guitar work. Aeternus prove once again why they remain essential voices in the Norwegian extreme metal scene, delivering an album that honors tradition while pushing their sound into compelling new territories.
