Background information about 'A Black Moon Broods over Lemuria'

It's been over three decades since the shadow first fell over Lemuria, and still nobody does symphonic sword & sorcery black metal quite like Bal-Sagoth. The UK legends' debut album A Black Moon Broods over Lemuria (1995) returns in a freshly remastered edition that breathes new fire into these ancient incantations. From the moment "Hatheg-Kla" erupts with its thunderous drums and that unmistakable orchestral bombast, you're transported to a realm of eldritch wonder and battlefield glory.

Byron Roberts' theatrical, narrative vocal style remains utterly unique - part warrior king, part cosmic narrator, spinning tales of Atlantean spires, serpent temples and sapphirean thrones. The production has been given a new lease on life by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, bringing out the depth in those sweeping keyboard arrangements and razor-sharp guitar work without losing the raw, arcane charm of the original. This isn't just nostalgia - this is a classic reborn, complete with a lavishly illustrated lyric booklet featuring never-before-seen photos and an in-depth interview with Roberts conducted by Olivier "Zoltar" Badin. For anyone who missed the first wave or wants to relive the magic, this is the definitive edition of a true genre-defining masterpiece.
