Background information about 'Frost And Fire (40th Anniversary Edition)'

Four decades after its initial release, Cirith Ungol's legendary debut "Frost And Fire" returns in this stunning 40th anniversary edition that proves some fires never die. This Californian quintet unleashed something truly special back in 1981 - a raw, mystical blend of heavy metal that drew from both the thunderous power of Black Sabbath and the epic fantasy realms of Robert E. Howard's sword and sorcery tales. The album's title track remains an absolute crusher, with Tim Baker's soaring vocals cutting through Greg Lindstrom's massive guitar riffs like a blade through ancient armor.

What makes this anniversary edition truly essential is how it captures the band's dual nature perfectly. The original seven tracks showcase Cirith Ungol at their most primal and powerful, while the bonus LP featuring alternate versions reveals the raw energy that made them legends in the underground metal scene. Songs like "Edge Of A Knife" and "Better Off Dead" still pack the same devastating punch they did four decades ago, proving that true heavy metal is timeless. This camouflage vinyl pressing with its comprehensive booklet serves as both a historical document and a celebration of one of metal's most underrated gems.
