About the album

"Die Urkatastrophe" is a haunting exploration of the First World War's devastation, referred to as the primal catastrophe of the 20th century. The album is a poignant homage to the countless soldiers and civilians who perished in this brutal conflict. Using factual reports, letters, and original documents from both surviving and fallen soldiers, Kanonenfieber crafts a narrative that vividly portrays the harrowing personal experiences of war. Their black and death metal soundscape serves not only as entertainment but as an educational tool, challenging the glorification of war by illustrating its grim realities.

The album's recording at Kohlekeller Studio under Kristian Kohle’s expertise brings an authentic rawness to its sound. Featuring guest guitarist Maik Weichert from Heaven Shall Burn on "Waffenbrüder," the album blends historical authenticity with intense musical compositions. Kanonenfieber’s second album continues their mission to give voice to the silent stories of history, urging listeners to reflect on past horrors with compassion and understanding.
