By 2001, death metal was on life support. The genre that had once birthed the most vile, rotting filth imaginable had been neutered, sanitised, stripped of everything dangerous. And then Murder Squad crawled out of the Swedish underground to remind everyone what this shit is really about.

Formed by members of ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER and MERCILESS — absolute royalty of the Swedish death metal scene — this four-piece never pretended to reinvent the wheel. Their mission was simple: worship at the altar of AUTOPSY, the most depraved band San Francisco ever produced, and drink themselves into a glorious, filthy stupor while doing it. And holy hell, does Unsane, Insane and Mentally Deranged deliver.

From the moment the first riff tears through the speakers, you know exactly what you're in for. This isn't clever, this isn't progressive — this is pure, unadulterated homage to the grotesque. The riffs lumber and lurch like a drunk corpse staggering through a morgue, the vocals sound like they're being vomited from a grave, and the whole thing reeks of cheap beer and decay. Yet somehow, with the pedigree these guys bring, it never feels like a cheap imitation. It feels like a loving, twisted tribute played by people who genuinely understand what made Autopsy so sick in the first place.

Mastered for vinyl by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, this is the very first time Unsane, Insane and Mentally Deranged has been pressed on wax. And it sounds absolutely massive.
