Background information about 'Where The Snows Are Never Gone...'
From the frozen wastelands of Murmansk comes a monument to barbaric black metal supremacy that still sends chills down spines nearly three decades later. Old Wainds' debut full-length "Where The Snows Are Never Gone..." isn't just an album – it's a frozen testament to the most unhinged and primitive black metal ever committed to tape. Released in 1997, this eight-track assault showcases the Russian horde at their most savage and uncompromising, with Cyrillic song titles that hint at the otherworldly darkness contained within.
What makes this record absolutely devastating is its complete disregard for anything resembling comfort or accessibility. These aren't songs – they're barbaric hymns that tear through your speakers like arctic winds through exposed flesh. The inhuman vocals rank among the most hate-filled and insane ever recorded, while the primitive production captures every ounce of frozen malevolence. This is black metal in its purest, most unfiltered form, following the footsteps of early Norwegian classics while carving its own path through the permafrost.
