Recorded south of Bergen, deep in the moss-covered forests around the island of Borgøy, the album breathes the landscape that once inspired the doomed painter Lars Hertervig. There is a raw, elemental quality to these recordings, built less on studio polish and more on intuition, patience, and a masterful command of the basics. Reckless thrashing riffs collide with brooding gloom, chilling melodies rise out of violent intensity, and moments of desolate reflection give way to untamed aggression. It sounds unmistakably like Taake, yet somehow more focused, more deliberate than ever before.
