Background information about 'En Skog Av Nidstang'
Taake has never been a band that plays it safe, and "En Skog Av Nidstang" proves once again why Hoest and company remain one of the most vital forces in Norwegian black metal. This is raw, unapologetic, and dripping with that cold Scandinavian atmosphere that made the genre legendary in the first place. From the very first riff, you're dragged into a forest of dark, twisted melodies that feel both ancient and refreshingly alive.
The album carries that signature Taake sound - razor-sharp tremolo picking, grim vocals that cut through the mix like a frozen blade, and a rhythm section that drives everything forward with relentless intent. But there's more than just aggression here. "En Skog Av Nidstang" weaves in folk-tinged passages and haunting, almost melancholic interludes that show a band still evolving, still hungry, still pushing their own boundaries. It's black metal that respects its roots while refusing to be confined by them.
