Recorded south of Bergen, deep in the moss-draped forests around the island of Borgøy, the album captures a band operating on pure instinct. No studio trickery, no excess — just intuition, confinement and a master's command of the rudimentary tools of the trade. And it sounds unmistakably like Taake. Reckless thrashing riffs crash against brooding gloom, chilling melodies surface from violent intensity, and moments of desolate reflection collapse into untamed aggression. It is cold, it is unforgiving, and it is utterly alive. After 33 years, Taake remains as vital, distinctive and relevant as ever, and this record is the proof.
