Background information about 'Fallen Angel of Doom'
There are debut albums, and then there is "Fallen Angel of Doom" — a record that arrived in 1990 like a brick through the window of everything polite and well-behaved. Blasphemy walked into a cheap studio with almost no money and came out with something that still sounds like it was summoned rather than recorded. The guitars are a swarm, the drums a relentless barrage, and somewhere underneath all that chaos sits a genuine understanding of what makes extreme music terrifying: atmosphere, not polish.
What hits hardest is how the album refuses to pick a lane. Death, speed and grind all get dragged into the same furnace, then forged with the raw, unhinged spirit of Sarcófago, Sodom and Bathory. It is menacing in sound and in presence, a wall of noise that never once asks for permission. Three decades on, nobody has really topped it — plenty have tried, and plenty have borrowed from it.
This reissue stays faithful to the original pressing and finally restores the lyrics to "Hording of Evil Vengeance", "Darkness Prevails" and "The Desolate Ones", which were left off back in the day. Presented on picture disc vinyl, it is the kind of object that belongs in the hands of anyone who takes this music seriously. Essential, unfiltered, untouchable.
