Background information about 'Carving a pyramid of thoughts'
Portuguese black metal outfit Corpus Christii delivers a haunting journey through darkness with "Carving A Pyramid Of Thoughts", an album that showcases the band's ability to blend atmospheric elements with raw black metal intensity. The five-track offering opens with "Me, The Hanged One", immediately establishing the band's penchant for creating deeply unsettling soundscapes that feel both ancient and timeless. Each composition flows seamlessly into the next, creating a cohesive narrative that explores themes of transcendence, surrender, and spiritual awakening through sonic brutality.
The album's centerpiece, "Surrender", stretches across nearly seven minutes of hypnotic black metal that demonstrates Corpus Christii's mastery of dynamics and atmosphere. From the crushing weight of "Below The Waters" to the brief but impactful closing track "Transcend", the band crafts an experience that feels more like a ritualistic ceremony than a simple collection of songs. The production maintains that essential raw edge while allowing each instrument to breathe within the mix, creating space for the music's more introspective moments to shine through the darkness.
