Background information about 'Hate Them'
"Hate Them," the eighth studio album by the Norwegian band Darkthrone, captures the raw essence of black metal with an unrelenting fervor. Released through Peaceville Records, it continues the band's exploration into minimalistic yet intense soundscapes. With a distillation of primal riffs and guttural vocal delivery, the album defies modern production trends to maintain an authentic and abrasive atmosphere.
The tracks on "Hate Them" resonate with a grim yet immersive energy, characterized by relentless drumming and stark melodic passages. Each composition is a testament to Darkthrone's commitment to their roots while embracing a slightly more polished execution. The lyrical themes delve into nihilism and existential dread, echoing the band's philosophical underpinnings. This LP stands as a significant marker in their discography, demonstrating resilience against the tides of change in the metal landscape.
