Background information about 'Black Medium Current'
Norwegian avant-garde masters Dødheimsgard return with their most emotionally resonant work yet on "Black Medium Current".This sixth studio album by the longstanding Norwegian avant-garde pioneersfinds the band eight years after their universally acclaimed "A Umbra Omega", delivering what many considera sublime space oddity that may one day be held up as the band's de facto magnum opus. This is DHG's most straightforwardly emotional album, enhanced through its interplay between bristling dissonance, subtle weirdness, and wistful melodicism.
The album showcases Dødheimsgard's evolution from theirraw and grim black metal outfit established during the second wave in the early-mid 90stoa truly eclectic behemoth adorned with the mastery of mood and texture through intricate, dark metallic wonderment and unnerving eloquence.Black Medium Current sees the band trade clanging, jazzy experimentation for a stronger emphasis on electronica, woven into their black metal frame and wrapped around classical instrumentation. The result isan album which needs to be listened to, to truly understand how it sounds - the many different influences and musical elements combined offer a unique listening experience which just isn't easily described.
