Background information about 'Harvest'
There are albums that simply demand your attention, and Naglfar's Harvest is exactly that kind of beast. Originally unleashed in 2007, this fifth full-length from the Swedish melodic black metal veterans remains a towering monument in the genre. It's the sound of a band hitting their stride with surgical precision — balancing the raw, frostbitten aggression of classic Scandinavian black metal with the kind of melodic death metal hooks that burrow deep into your skull and refuse to leave.
What makes Harvest so special is its atmosphere. Christopher Olivius delivers vocals that sound genuinely unhinged, like he's channeling something ancient and malevolent, while Marcus Norman's songwriting weaves these twisted, beautiful melodies through the chaos. Tracks like "Into The Black" and "The Mirrors Of My Soul" hit with the force of a sledgehammer, yet there's a strange, almost romantic darkness running through the whole thing — a "black romantic atmospheric" sound, as the band themselves described it. It's vicious, it's memorable, and it's aged like fine wine. This reissue on CD is an absolute no-brainer for anyone who missed it the first time around.
